When did the Who break up and why?

Even though the Who's last album called "It's Hard" was released in 1982, the Who officially broke up in 1983. In 1978, drummer Keith Moon died at his home in London. He accidentally overdosed on pills to help him stop drinking. Moon was replaced by Kenny Jones, a former member of "The Small Faces". The original members of the Who agreed that the Who died with Moon, but after a while, decided to keep going. Unfortunately, at a concert in the late 70's or early 80's in Cincinnati, Ohio, 11 people were trampled to death to get seats at a Who concert. The band was not informed of the incident until after the concert.
